Thermography Survey company in Ambattur, Tamil Nadu.Thermal imaging,MEP Utility,Plant Inspection
Thermography, also known as thermal imaging, is a fascinating technique that visualizes heat . It works by detecting infrared radiation emitted by objects and converting it into images called thermograms, which show temperature variations across surfaces.
How It Works
• Every object above absolute zero emits infrared radiation.
• Thermographic cameras capture this radiation, especially in the long-infrared range (9–14 μm).
• The resulting image displays temperature differences—warmer areas appear brighter or in warmer colors, cooler areas darker or cooler-toned.

Working Principle Objects above absolute zero emit infrared radiation according to black-body radiation laws. A thermal camera’s sensor array detects this radiation—typically in the long-wave infrared band (9–14 μm)—and converts it into an electronic signal.
The signal is then processed to display temperature gradients as brightness or color shifts in the thermogram.Types of Thermographic Surveys Survey Type Key Focus
Building Survey Insulation defects; air leakage; moisture intrusion Industrial Plant Survey Hot spots in panels; mechanical machinery; pipeline insulation faults Process
Plant Survey Boilers; heat exchangers; steam traps; storage tanks Geophysical Terrain Survey Thermal mapping of terrain; groundwater seep detection; subsurface structure inference Electrical System Survey Switchgear; transformers; motors; predictive maintenance hot-spot detection
Advantages for Survey Industry
Non-contact, rapid diagnostics without halting operations
- Works in all lighting conditions—day, night, smoke, or dust
- Detects temperature differences as small as 0.1 °C with advanced cameras
- Integrates seamlessly with drones and GIS for large-area mapping
